Brown-RISD Master of Arts in Design Engineering

Sae-Young attended the University of Southern California and majored in Visual Arts with a Communication Design minor. Though she was happy pursing her major, her secondary interest towards biology led her to intern at a science lab during the pandemic. There, she worked as a a designer on projects such as an electronically powered stained glass and a portable Covid-19 detection kit. Her collaborative work with engineers and scientists taught her that the role as a designer is to balance aesthetics and functionality, and how critical design truly is to a product.
