Lisa Di Carlo

Biography

Lisa Di Carlo is a cultural anthropologist and lecturer in the Sociology Department at Brown University. She teaches courses on design anthropology, ethnographic  and qualitative research methods, research ethics, and Mediterranean migration. Her research explores an array of topics related to the broader categories of migration and change: identity politics, labor migration, the migration of ideas, social innovation, and the application of ethnographic methods to the fields of design, development and innovation. 

Lisa came to Brown after a decade of teaching at Babson College, most recently in the Entrepreneurship Division. She is a member of EPIC and Co-Chair Emerita of its annual meeting. She is a former Faculty Fellow for Philadelphia University’s Design, Engineering and Commerce program.
