Biography

Kayla Blalack is a nontraditional engineer: a technologically literate, interdisciplinary thinker focused on designing beautiful things that work well. Kayla was a Jefferson Scholar at the University of Virginia, where she earned a dual bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and Spanish with a minor in Applied Mathematics. At UVA, she conducted independent research on additive manufacturing with novel flexible ceramic inks. She has worked as an engineering design intern for Concept Designs, a retail product display design firm, and Radio Flyer, the iconic wagon and toy brand. Her design interests include physical consumer products, finding joy in the mundane, and the intersection of function and Aesthetics.
